Visitors Borrowing

Borrow from Buswell Library

Visitors may use Buswell Library resources within the building. 
To access online journals and research databases, ask at the circulation desk to login to a guest computer.
To borrow items requires a borrowing account.

Borrowing for students, staff, and faculty of I-Share institutions

  • Sign in at the circulation desk when you arrive.
  • Present your current and valid campus ID to borrow items in person. 
  • Loan policies for books, scores, and most other circulating items are standard throughout I-Share.
  • Access your I-Share account online to see due dates and renew Wheaton items.
  • Wheaton items may also be requested online via your I-Share account.
  • If your library account is blocked, expired, or outdated at your home institution, you will not be able to borrow from Wheaton, either online or in person.

Borrowing for students, staff, and faculty of Atla institutions

  • Sign in at the circulation desk when you arrive.
  • Up to 10 Buswell items may be borrowed concurrently.
  • DVDs and CDs may not be borrowed.
  • Privileges do not include requesting and borrowing items from other libraries.
  • Privileges do not include off-campus access to the library’s online resources.

Loan periods:

  • Books, music scores, most other circulating items - 4 week loan period, 8 weeks maximum
  • Journals, reference books – non-circulating, in-library use only
  • Permanent reserves and technology/equipment – varies
  • Renew items by replying to an email notice, by emailing circulation.desk@wheaton.edu, or by calling the circulation desk at 630-752-5354.

Local Resident Borrowing Account

The following types of visitors may obtain a local resident borrowing account:

  • Students living locally but enrolled in distance courses at other academic institutions
  • Visitors who are on staff at a local church 
  • Visitors who want to use Buswell resources for a specific academic or research purpose 

Local resident borrowing account policies:

  • Sign in at the circulation desk when you arrive.
  • Borrowers must live within commuting distance of the college.
  • Library account costs $60 for 12 months.
  • Up to 10 Buswell items may be borrowed concurrently.
  • DVDs and CDs may not be borrowed.
  • Privileges do not include requesting and borrowing items from other libraries.
  • Privileges do not include off-campus access to the library’s online resources.

Wheaton Public Library Short-Term Borrowing Account

  • Sign in at the circulation desk when you arrive.
  • Show your valid Wheaton Public Library card and a permission slip obtained from the Wheaton Public Library reference desk.
  • Up to 3 items may be borrowed concurrently.
  • Books, music scores, most other circulating items - 4 week loan period, 8 weeks maximum
  • Intended for occasional use only; account expires at the end of the loan period.
  • DVDs and CDs may not be borrowed.
  • Renew items by replying to an email notice, by emailing circulation.desk@wheaton.edu, or by calling the circulation desk at 630-752-5354.
