Choosing a Database

To find articles on a specific topic, the best place to start is with a database, which we talked about in the Searching section.

If you know the database that you're looking for, you can choose it from the "Databases" tab on the Buswell Library Homepage or the Student Resources Page. If you aren't sure which database you should use, you can get some guidance by clicking on the "Subject Resource Guides" menu and selecting the discipline that your topic would fall under. For example, try Sociology if you're looking for databases that would contain articles on our earlier topic of social networking. It's possible that your topic may span two subjects--both History and Biblical & Theological Studies, for example, if your topic examines the rise of Evangelicalism in the United States. If this is the case, look at each page individually to be sure you're exploring all the resources available to you.

Be sure to read the database descriptions carefully to make sure you choose a database appropriate to your topic, as databases often cover a specific date range or cover a specific topic.

Another option is to search for your topic in the search box located in the Articles tab.
