Wheaton College Members Wheaton College students, faculty, staff, families of faculty and staff, and college retirees may borrow upon presentation of a valid Wheaton College I.D. card. Privileges for retirees mirror those at the time of employment. Family cards carry staff privileges. Consortial Guest Patrons Buswell Library participates in three consortial organizations having reciprocal borrowing arrangements: I-Share, LIBRAS, and ACTS. Current faculty, staff, and students of the academic institutions belonging to these consortia may borrow library items upon presentation of a valid I.D. from their home institution. Consortial guests have the privileges of Wheaton College patrons of the same classification. Courtesy Guest Patrons Members of the public may use library materials free of charge within the building. In addition, Buswell Library offers several types of courtesy guest accounts. Courtesy guests may borrow books, scores, sheet music, circulating audiocassettes, maps, government documents, and curriculum items. Please note that borrowing privileges do not include videos, DVDs, and CDs. - College of DuPage Courtesy Accounts
College of DuPage faculty, staff, and students enrolled in a certificate, associate’s degree, or transfer program may borrow free of charge. Faculty and staff must show a current College of DuPage I.D. Students must show a current registration schedule and either a College of DuPage I.D. or an Illinois driver’s license. A maximum of ten items may be borrowed concurrently. Note: Students registered for non-credit or continuing education courses, courses offered through the Business and Professional Institute, or students registered for developmental, 0 level courses are not eligible for reciprocal borrowing. Also, courtesy privileges will not be extended to patrons with visitor, community guest membership, alumnus, faculty emeritus, retiree, or similar library account status at College of DuPage. - Moody Bible Institute Courtesy Accounts
Current students, faculty, and staff of Moody Bible Institute may borrow free of charge. Faculty and staff must show a current Moody I.D. Students must show their current Moody I.D. and a course registration schedule. A maximum of ten items may be borrowed concurrently. Note: Courtesy privileges will not be extended to patrons with visitor, guest membership, alumnus, faculty emeritus, retiree, local clergy, or similar library account status at Moody Bible Institute. - Wheaton Public Library Courtesy Accounts
Patrons in good standing at Wheaton Public Library may borrow up to three items at a time, upon presentation of a permission slip obtained from the Wheaton Public Library reference desk. This free privilege is intended for occasional use patrons, and does not extend to patrons of other libraries in the DuPage Library System. - Local Resident Courtesy Accounts
Local residents within commuting distance of the library may purchase a guest membership for $50.00 per year (a twelve-month period from the date of purchase). A maximum of ten items may be borrowed concurrently. - Wheaton College Alumni Courtesy Accounts
Wheaton College alumni may purchase a guest membership for $25.00 per year (a twelve-month period from the date of purchase). A maximum of ten items may be borrowed concurrently.
Overdue Notices & Item Replacement Fees Fines are calculated at the rates described in the chart below, up to a maximum overdue fine of $10.00 per item. Staff and student fines under $5.00 on books and scores will be waived. Notices are sent to patrons to alert them of overdue materials. Your prompt response will help to limit the fines incurred. If an overdue notice is received for an item that has already been returned, please contact the circulation desk immediately at (630) 752-5354 or the Circulation Supervisor at (630) 752-5610. If an e-mail address is on file for a patron, the first overdue notice is sent by postal mail and subsequent notices are sent by e-mail. If patrons do not have an e-mail address on file, all notices are sent by postal mail. Timely notification depends upon the accuracy of address information on file, so patrons should notify the circulation desk of any e-mail or postal mail address changes. Patrons are responsible to return materials by the due date. Notices are a courtesy extended to patrons to assist them in returning materials in a timely manner. If a patron does not receive or respond to notices and an item becomes severely overdue, the item will be deemed lost and a fee will be assessed. Paying the lost fee does not mean that the patron now owns the item. All library materials remain the property of Wheaton College and must be returned whenever possible. If the patron is able to return the item, the lost fee will be waived and the maximum overdue fine of $10.00 will be assessed instead. Lost fees are assessed according to item type for materials that are lost, damaged, or remain unreturned: - Books, scores, and most other circulating items - $55.00 per item
- Maps, audiocassettes - $30.00 per item
- Compact disks - $45.00 per item
- Videos, DVDs, laser discs - $75.00 per item
If Reference materials or similar non-circulating items must be replaced due to patron negligence, a fee of $150.00 is assessed. Please note that these fees do not necessarily ensure that the lost item can be replaced, as it may be out of print or otherwise unavailable. Such fees do assist the Library, however, in purchasing comparable items for the collection. Renewals may be made in person at the circulation desk, by calling (630) 752-5354 or by sending a message to CirculationDesk@wheaton.edu. Members of I-Share institutions may also renew online by using the MyAccount feature in I-Share. |
